Hello, this is Erin and Emma Joe's weekly Torus Twitch! Torus is a board game of our own invention inspired by go, named after it being the only game we know of that requires a toroidal board to be playable. See the panel below or in our about page for links to rules, our game records, the software we use, the Torus subreddit, and our Discord server! Here's a quick summary of the rules using the animations in those links: • Captures remove diagonal stones, perhaps in more than one direction at once; • You win by surrounding any single enemy stone horizontally and vertically; • No suicide: You cannot play where your stone would be captured or where you would lose (unless you're capturing the threat or winning); • Superko: You cannot play where the resulting board state is the same result as one of your previous moves; every eks shown in this example is a move prevented by ko; watch the full animation below to see how it gets to the state when all three cycles break; • And the namesake of the game: the board wraps around horizontally and vertically, as though it were on a torus (that's why we show four copies of the board side-by-side). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HELLO, THIS IS ERIN AND EMMA JOE'S WEEKLY TORUS TWITCH!
